George Bottomley lived most of his life at Shibden Milne a Water Mill. (now Shibden Mill Inn) and later at Upper Limed House he was born 1660c and buried 12 Jan 1723 at St. John the Baptist Halifax. George married Dorothy, baptised 24 Jun 1661, the daughter of John Nalson of Methley, and married at Coley Northowram Church on the 12 Jun 1683 , she was buried at St. John the Baptist Halifax 3 April 1716, a few years before George.
Due to the troubled times, I only found two of their children's baptismal records,
Thomas Bottomley baptised 9 August 1687 and Jeremiah Bottomley 9 February 1690

Jeremiah Bottomley born 9 February 1690 died 1742 we know this from his "Admon and Inventory "which was all in favour of his wife Jane....? who he married on the 26 October 1710 and from whom I descend.

John Bottomley , known of as, "John of Cock Royds" one of the sons of Jeremiah and Jane, and was Baptised 17 December 1717 at St. John the Baptist Halifax. and was married in, 6 October 1743 at St. Peters Bradford, to Martha Hellwell daughter of Daniel Hellewell of Great Horton. John being 26 years, and Martha 16 years of age. John was buried 5 April 1793 at St. Peters Bradford and Martha died 1803 at Cockroyds. John had a brother Benjamin Bottomley who married Elizabeth Murgatroyd, they had one child. John and Martha, had seven children I descend from their youngest son, who was James Bottomley baptised 12 May 1751, and buried 10 Jun 1823 at Dolphin Chapel, Clayton Heights married at St. Peters Bradford, on the 13 August 1770 to Hannah Kellett , daughter of Moses Kellett of Great Horton Bradford. Hannah was baptised 15 May 1751 and buried 31 May 1830 Dolphin Chapel Bradford

James Bottomley of "Cock Royds" he and Hannah Kellett, had 17 children, James's brother John born in 1746 married, another Hannah Kellett at Leeds Parish Church seems to have left no children!! but a lot of money £1,500 in those days (16 February 1822) to his brother's Children . To John the eldest and William 2nd son (and from whom I descend their sister Martha he left a cottage each . In John's Will there were 36 bequests. There was a big funeral tea and lots of goings on. I found Lists of Family & Friends invited plus Bills for transport, Food and Drink ref. to this is in Card Index at Halifax Library. Moses next to the youngest son of James & Hannah Kellett bore Arms which helped with the next part of the Bottomley Story The cottages left by John, were in Soper Lane, and Cock Royds Farm must have had a track into the lane, but later had an exit into Cooper Lane to the left of the Farm (Cock Royds Farm pulled down 1999 to make way for New Houses) my friend Barbara Swift, who lived near by, says it could be Green Lane, Shelf. More searching needs to be done into the other beneficiaries of John's Will and at Wakefield Registry of Deeds, Re Cock Royds Farm and its owners.

William Bottomley baptised 18 July 1778 at St. Peters Bradford, married 9 April 1799 at St. John the Baptist Halifax. Died at Soper Lane and was buried 31 March 1856 at Wade House Chapel Shelf along with his wife Mary nee Spencer possibly baptised 1773 at Olive Heywood's Chapel Northowram she was buried 6 April 1845 at Wade House Chapel Shelf, in the grave that had been bought earlier by their grandson Riphath Bottomley, but due to a disagreement, the Bottomley Family along with others left Wade House Chapel, and Jonas Bottomley, son of William and Mary , was a Founder Member of Bethel Chapel also in Shelf.

Jonas Bottomley my 3 times Great Grandfather born 1804 married 1824 Elizabeth/Betty Brook at at St. Peters Bradford, both buried at Bethel Chapel Jonas 7 May 1871, and Elizabeth 20 May 1889 They had five Children Samuel 1826 Soper Lane, died 23 November 1869, Mary born Soper Lane, 15 Jan 1831, Jonathan born Soper Lane, 28 February 1832, married Tamar Burnett, he died 20 April 1907, Benjamin born 11 September 1835 at Shelf baptised 8 November 1835 Wade House Chapel died at North St., Low Moor 13 April 1903, buried 16 April 1903 at Zion Chapel Wibsey, married 31 March 1860 St. Peters Bradford Ruth Hill daughter of Lot Hill and Hannah Hall. Ruth was born 15 August 1838 at Little Horton Bradford, and died 2 December 1897 at Low Moor, and was buried at Zion Chapel Wibsey. Ezra born 1840 at Soper Lane.

Benjamin Bottomley my 2 times Great Grandfather had seven children Hannah the eldest born 9 Jun 1861, North Street Low Moor baptised 04 August 1861 at Zion Chapel Wibsey, buried 24 Jan 1936 at Zion Chapel Wibsey and married 21 February 1883 at Zion Chapel Wibsey to, John Paul Wilkinson born 26 April 1860 baptised 26 April 1861 died at Gibbett St. Halifax but had been living at West Vale near Halifax, where they had a Sweet Shop, he was buried 30 September 1939 at Zion Chapel Wibsey son of James Wilkinson and Sarah Keighley.

John Paul Wilkinson and Hannah nee Bottomley were my Great Grand Parents, they had two sons Frank born 9 April 1885 at Low Moor Wibsey, near Bradford, baptised at Zion Chapel, and my Grand Father James Henry Wilkinson born 19 May 1883, Low Moor Wibsey baptised 26 September 1883 at Zion Chapel died 2 September 1960, Cremated 09 September 1960 at Nabwood Shipley, married 14 July 1906 Hilda Cooper born 1 Jun 1879 at Ossett, she died at St. Pauls Rd. Shipley and was Cremated 6 March 1955 at Schoolmoor Bradford, daughter of Charles Cooper and Charlotte Parkin.

James Henry Wilkinson and Hilda nee Cooper had a son Alec Bevers Wilkinson born 1 August 1907 at North St. Low Moor, married Lily Fearnley in 1926 somewhere in Wharfedale died 4 Jan 1986 at Bradford Royal Infirmary and a daughter Mary Wilkinson born 22 September 1913 at 2, Fountain St. Low Moor Wibsey

I was their only child Janet Louise Tompkins I am married to Ivor Edward Ogden son of Charles Edward Ogden and Lena Imeson.

I have three children Linda Ann, Angela June, and Julie Arlene, and four grandchildren, Irene, Stephanie, Kelly Ann, and Victoria Louise. and two Great grandchildren Melissa Mary, and Charlotte.
